CHANGE IS COMING IN UGANDA

I am called, Ssuuna Francis, I am 16 years old. I live in Uganda, Lyantonde District. I am in senior one at Old Kampala senior secondary school and I am a member of the Butterfly project Uganda. I joined the Project in 2009 and from that time I have learnt a lot of thing from it. The Butterfly project is a project to develop young social entrepreneurs and Change makers. so, thought the experiences  got from the project I have managed to set up my own projects which I see that can bring change in my community. I have three projects which are I am working I have The Biogas project, Circulate project and a new one called Vision for Uganda all these projects have been set up according to the main issues faced in my community and I hope they are to bring change as shown in the description  below..

THE EDUCATIONAL BIOGAS PROJECT.

What is Biogas?

•A gas produced from animal waste
•Used in cooking, reducing the use of firewood and charcoal in household, saving money
•Methane, a non-explosive gas, which is very safe.
How do we produce biogas?

• Set up zero grazing for at least 2 cows, to collect urine and dung
•Build a biogas digester, which must be protected from direct sunlight
•Acquire and fix a gas tube
•Acquire a gas bag and fit

I would like to set up this project because of the following reasons:

•To protect the Environment of my area.
•To extend the modern methods of cooking in the slum district of Lyantonde.
•To help people know the uses of cow dung.
•It will be the first Biogas in the whole district.
•To teach the young school children the uses of Biogas and how to make it.

I come from the Village but the people in the village don’t know how to protect their  Environment, since they don’t have electricity and money to buy like gas to use for cooking, they just cut down the trees to get wood fuel which I think is not good and their has to be a change. I think that if start the Biogas project and I work with people the environmental of area will be protected and people will start getting good thing which they haven’t ever seen before.
